Obituary For Robert Eugene Jenkins
Robert “Bob” Eugene Jenkins, 72, of Bloomsburg, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at his residence. He was born March 7, 1952, in Danville, PA, the son of the late Edward T. and Betty Forney Jenkins.
Bob graduated from Columbia Montour Vo Tech in 1970. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1974 where he served on the USS John F. Kennedy.
He is survived by the love of his life, Karen Hauck Jenkins whom he married on July 10, 1976. They were married 48 years.
Bob was employed by Heinz Pet Products Company in Bloomsburg PA for 39 years as a Maintenance Manager in Industry Production.
He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bloomsburg PA where he served in many areas including as a Deacon, Trustee and on the School Board Committee.
An avid hunter, Bob especially enjoyed deer hunting and making deer bologna for his friends and family. He also enjoyed reading his Bible, collecting old coins, Civil War memorabilia and loved animals. Bob will be remembered for his selfless character, his integrity and being a man of his word. The commitment he had to being the “rock” of his immediate family was monumental and he will be missed dearly by them all.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his only daughter, Kelly Marie Jenkins of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by two brothers: Charles and Donald Jenkins of Bloomsburg PA and four sisters: Floretta Etmoyer of Florida, Carol Derr of Wyalusing, PA, Shirley Jenkins of Danville, PA and Kathy Clark of Millersburg, PA. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Bob’s Life to be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church 3300 Ridge Road Bloomsburg, PA with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 – 10:45 AM. Burial will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, with full military rites accorded.
The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
