Obituary For Robert Lee Kauwell

Robert Lee Kauwell, 83, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 12, 2024, at his residence. He was born on October 7, 1940, in Northumberland PA, the son of the late John W. and Mary H. Bartholomew Kauwell.

Bob graduated from Northumberland High School.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Susan M. Chuchla Kauwell.

They were married on April 16, 1977.

Bob was employed as a machine mechanic at DelMonte Pet Products for many years, from where he retired.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Danville, PA.

His dedication to his family, passion for birdwatching, and unwavering support for the Pittsburgh Steelers were just a few of the many qualities that defined him. He spent countless hours immersed in birdwatching.

Bob’s lighthearted spirit brought warmth to all who knew him. His meticulous attention to detail was evident in all aspects of his life, from his work to his hobbies.

His love and support for his family, his grandchildren, and his devotion to his wife, Susan, were unwavering. Together, they all shared a lifetime of love, and many cherished memories.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son: Jason Kauwell and his wife Megan of Lansdale, PA and one daughter, Holly Johnston and her husband Nicholas of Danville, PA. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Nathan and Charlotte Kauwell and Andrew, Alexander and Violet Johnston. One sister, Betty Kauwell of Danville, PA and several nieces and nephews also survive him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; John, Ronald, James and Richard and one sister, Mary Kauwell.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Geisinger Hospice for their tender and loving care of Bob.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration Walkthrough to be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM from Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Danville SPCA 2801 Bloom Road Danville PA 17821.
