Obituary For Robert M. Myers

Robert M. Myers, 95, of Danville, PA, lost his life while serving the community that he loved in the line of duty, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. He was born on September 3, 1929, in Wilkes Barre, PA, the son of the late Marvin and Edna Mae Myers (Hoover).

Bob served his country with honor in the United States Army as a Corporal from August of 1952 to July of 1954.

He was married for 63 years to the late Dorothy J. Myers (Fry), whom he adored.
They were married June 25, 1960.

Bob was employed by Royal Swan and Voelcker Beer Distributor.

He attended God’s Missionary Church, Danville.

Bob joined the Goodwill Hose Fire Company in 1965 serving as past President and joined the Danville Fire Police in 1975. He was also a member of the Liberty Valley Fire Company. Bob also proudly served on the Civil Air Patrol in the 1970’s.

Bob found joy in the little pleasures of life, whether it be completing word search puzzles or selflessly volunteering with the Danville Fire Police. He was a steadfast supporter of the New York Yankees and found great delight in cheering for his beloved team. His true happiness, however, came from being surrounded by his cherished family, whom he loved unconditionally.

Bob will be remembered as a true patriot and dedicated servant. His strong work ethic and reliability was unsurpassed and has left a lasting impact on the community, his family and all who loved him.

He is survived by three daughters; Sherry Simon, and Catherine Billhime and her husband Eugene, both of Danville, PA, and Ellen Shirley of Alabama and one son, David Myers of Danville, PA. Bob is also survived by one grandson, Matthew Shirley. He is also survived by two brothers; Karl Myers and Rich Myers and three sisters; Audrey Welkom, Dorothy Getty, and Lois McHenry. Bob is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his wife and his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one son; Robert Myers, Jr., two sons-in law, Roy Simon, Jr., and Terry Shirley and three brothers; Harry Myers, Darold Myers and Howard Myers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Robert’s Life to be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Trinity Church, 84 Lombard Avenue, Danville, PA with Pastor Nathan Yohe officiating. Friends will be received from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville. Military Rites will be accorded by Danville American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard and the United States Army Honor Guard. Bob will also be honored with a fire department procession and rites will be accorded.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Danville Fire Police Memorial Fund PO Box 97, Danville, PA 17821.

    My heart aches for you and your family during this time of loss. Your father's life was a true blessing, and his memory will forever be a source of inspiration. He was selfless and so kind, I loved when he came to the office and we had our little chats. He will truly be missed.
