Obituary For Robert T. James
On Thursday, April 3, 2023, our father, brother and friend, Robert T. “Bob” James,84, of Danville, PA, went to his heavenly home at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA. He was born March 7, 1939, in Danville, PA, the son of the late Robert I. and Mary Tanner James.
He graduated from Danville Area High School in 1957.
He was a member of the Friendship Fire Company, Danville Moose, Washington (Washies) Fire Company, and the American Legion Post 40.
Bob was employed by Danville State Hospital, TRW, Datacom in Berwick, PA, and the Montour County Jail, from where he retired.
He enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles and classic cars. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed NASCAR racing.
He will be remembered for his storytelling and cooking delicious Sunday meals for his family.
He is survived by one son, Robert T. James, Jr. (Kaye), and two daughters: Vicki James, Patricia James-Hovi (Andy) and three grandchildren: Cyle Carl (Marissa), Dylan James and Evan James and two great-grandchildren: Jackson and Lincoln Carl; all of Danville. Also surviving is one step-granddaughter, Sheila Hoffman (Greg) and two step-great-grandchildren; Ryker and Nora Hofmann; all of Telford, PA.
He is also survived by one brother, William James and three sisters: Barb Stevens, Becky Sutherland (Rockie), and Peggy Herman (Edward). Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by one brother, Gary James, two sisters-in-law: Margaret James and Maggie James and one brother-in-law, Bill Stevens. He was also preceded in death by his companion of 25 years, Margaret Berns Tanner, whom he loved dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Walk-Through Celebration of Life on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc., 42 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA.
