ROLAND K. SEWARD, JR.

Roland (“Rol”) Seward, Jr., 67, of Danville, passed away at Geisinger Medical Center on June 26, 2024. Born on October 12, 1956, he was the son of Doris (Samsel) Seward and the late Roland K. Seward.

He graduated from Berwick High School in 1974 and received his associate's degree in mechanical engineering from The Pennsylvania State University-Hazleton campus.

Rol spent 40 years working at Kennedy Van Saun which eventually became Metso. He most recently worked at his engineering consulting business – RKS Ventures. He traveled internationally extensively throughout his life for both work and family vacations. His travels took him to such places as China, India, Russia, Australia, Canada, and several European countries.

Rol was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed canoeing, fishing, hunting, and hiking. Some of his favorite moments were spent hiking with friends at Yosemite, Mount Washington, and many sections of the Appalachian Trail. His hobbies included making (and drinking) beer, challenging himself with Sudoku, and cooking.

He was a 2nd generation member of the Ridge Runners Sportsmen Club and was of the Christian faith. Most importantly, Rol was a much-loved individual and a kind and helpful husband, father, son, and friend.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 44 years Dona (Bower) Seward, daughter Elaine A. Seward and her partner Reene McCarthy, Washington, DC, brother-in-law David I. Bower, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and furry companion Mia (Havanese dog) as well as extended family members Sandy Horsefield, Lake Worth, Florida and Christopher, Toni, and Joey Horsefield, Boynton Beach, Florida.

A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
