Obituary For Ruth D. Freezer

Ruth D. Freezer,103, of Northumberland and formerly of Danville PA, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Emmanuel Personal Care Center, Northumberland, PA. She was born in Williamsport, PA on January 27, 1920; the daughter of the late Andrew Dahlgren and Sara L. (Spotts) Dahlgren.

Ruth graduated from Williamsport High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond W. Freezer on February 9, 2008. They were married February 19, 1944.

Ruth was employed as a Telephone Operator for Bell Telephone of Williamsport.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Columbia Hill, Danville.

Ruth was a gentle soul and both young and old alike were drawn to her. Ruth’s strong faith and her loving family were the most important things in her life. She was a phenomenal cook, baker and homemaker. Ruth enjoyed collecting antiques and old church postcards. She also enjoyed camping, sewing and crocheting and made several afghans for her family. Ruth also loved to hear and tell jokes.

Ruth is survived by four children; Dennis Freezer (Linda) of Medford, MA, Karen May (Randy) of Danville, PA, Jeff Freezer (Karen Payan) of Danville, PA and Audrey Ferrebee (David) of Danville PA as well as eight grandchildren; Andrew Freezer of Bellingham, WA and Piers Freezer of Alexandria, VA, Melissa McGuirk of El Granada, CA; Kristin Mikita of Danville, PA; Matthew Freezer (Jennifer) of Castle Rock, CO and Jonathon Freezer (Laurel) of Port Angeles, WA; Jared Bardall (Kimberly) of Danville, PA and Aaron Bardall of Lakeland, FL and seven great-grandchildren; Sydney McGuirk, Shane McGuirk, Skylar Corbin, Anikah Mikita, Emma Mikita, Klarah Mikita, and Elise Freezer. She is also survived by one sister: Joyce Springman of Culpeper, VA as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Dahlgren and one sister Doris Williams.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Ruth’s Life to be held on Friday, August 4th, 2023, at 11:00am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 791 Columbia Hill Road, Danville, PA 17821 with Pastor Bill Renno officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00am-10:45am. Burial will be held in Columbia Hill Cemetery, Danville, PA at a later date.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Columbia Hill, 38 Garman Road, Danville, PA 17821.
