Obituary For Scott Allan Bartges

Notorious rascal Scott Allan Bartges, 66, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at his residence. He was born on December 18, 1956, in Bloomsburg, PA, the son of the late Randall & May Chappell Bartges.

Scott graduated from Danville Area High School in 1975 and from the Bible Truth Institute in 1983 and served as pastor for eight years in Meyersdale, PA.

He was married to his loving wife of 23 years, Susan C. (Buck) Bartges.

They were married on October 31, 2000.

Scott was employed at Merck Pharmaceuticals from where he retired in 2017 after 40 years of dedication.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Danville, PA and the Danville Moose Lodge 1133.

Scott was consistently generous and compassionate with his friends and relatives, and enjoyed passions as diverse as motorcycle riding, music, and playing the drums, cooking, and woodworking. He particularly enjoyed spotting gators when visiting his daughter and son in-law in Florida.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter; Fonda (Bartges) Schreiber and her husband John of Clermont, FL; son Travis Bartges and his sisters, Beth (Bartges) Lynn and her husband Bill of Danville and Pam (Bartges) Swank and her husband Mark of Bethlehem, PA; Scott is also survived by a family friend who he considered to be a son to him; Jason VanSickle and his wife Jess of Danville. He was known as Crazy Uncle Scott to his nieces and nephews. He is survived by three nieces Rebecca Willoughby, Ann Berger, and Jayne Borras and two nephews: Daniel Swank and Kyle Lynn. He is also survived by his ex-wife; Patricia Croll of Florida.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Scott’s Life to be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc., 42 W Mahoning St., Danville, PA 17821 with Pastor Kevin Kline, and Pastor Greg Molter officiating. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM to 12:45PM. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Danville, PA.
