Obituary For Shanna Jean Stine

Shanna Jean Stine, 28, of Danville, Pa., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 12, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center. She was born August 10, 1994, in Danville, Pa., the beloved daughter of Douglas R. and Billie Jo Brobst Stine.

Shanna attended First Baptist Church of Danville.

She loved to bowl and was a proud Gold Medalist Olympian for The Special Olympics. Her talents for jewelry making and crocheting were used to delight and offer encouragement, comfort and love to many. One of her greatest enjoyments in her life was riding horses at Eos Therapeutic Riding Center in Bloomsburg, Pa.

Shanna will be remembered for her beautiful smile, extreme generosity, HUGE heart, and her compassionate and caring nature. She truly had a monumental impact on her family and all who knew her for her enduring strength and bravery throughout her brief life. She never let her disability stop her from leading a full and wonderful life, which will be her legacy forever.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Jarrod D. Stine and his girlfriend, Sam Nichols, both of Sunbury, Pa.; and one sister, Ariel N. Stine and her fiancé, Ian M. Heaps, both of Avis, Pa. Also surviving are her maternal grandmother, Gloria Jean Wray and her husband, Henry, of Danville, Pa.; and step-grandmother, Alice K. Brobst of ­­­­­­­­­­­Danville, Pa. She is also survived by one niece, Skyler N. Stine Campbell, and one nephew, Jaxon W. Heaps, both of Avis, Pa., both of whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, William E. Brobst; her step-grandfather, Robert C. Bookmiller; and her paternal grandparents: Robert C. and Thelma J. Stine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Shanna’s Life to be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at noon at First Baptist Church, 12 Brookside Drive (off 642 E.), Danville, Pa., with the Reverend Dawes J. Dunham officiating. Friends will be received from 10 a.m.-11:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Elan Memorial Park in Bloomsburg, Pa.

A special and heartfelt thank-you goes to her first nurse of 28 years, Debra Carr (lovingly referred to as “Aunt Deb”), who displayed monumental caring and unwavering support for Shanna and her family throughout her life.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Eos Therapeutic Riding Center, 288 Dahl Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
