Obituaries

Sheldon Lewis Eckrote, 36, of Winston-Salem, NC and formerly of Danville, PA and State College, PA passed away at his home on September 14, 2024. Sheldon was born on May 12, 1988, to Brenda James Eckrote and Gary Lewis Eckrote in Danville, PA.

He was a graduate of State College Area High School, State College. From the age of 15, Sheldon worked with passion in the hospitality industry at various restaurants and taverns in State College.

He continued that path of passion when he moved to North Carolina in 2011. His magnetic personality touched all those he interacted with. Sheldon lived a joy-filled life; his energy and laughter were infectious. His thoughtfulness and kindness made him a best friend to many. His work ethic and leadership talent garnered much respect. Sheldon’s current responsibility was as General Manager of Recreation Billiards, Winston-Salem, NC.

He is survived by his mother, Brenda James Poland and her spouse, Harry of Palmyra, PA; two brothers, Brandon Eckrote, Bellefonte, PA and Justin Eckrote, Warriors Mark, PA; maternal grandmother, Marie Klein James; niece and nephew, Emma and Levi Eckrote; a large extended family; his girlfriend of 5 years, Hillary Jones; many friends and his beloved pets.

In addition to his father, Sheldon was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lewis Eckrote and Helene Eisenhower Eckrote, and his maternal grandfather whom he never had a chance to know, Daniel James.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church 9 Bloom Street Danville, PA with Father Timothy Marcoe as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM in St. Hubert’s Chapel.
