Obituaries

Sue Ann Shiffler, 74, of Danville PA passed away peacefully on February 10, 2024, at Grandview Nursing Center in Danville PA. She was born December 16, 1949, in Catawissa PA the daughter of the late Arthur M. and Jessie Mae Snyder Yocum.

She graduated from Danville High School in 1969.

Sue was employed by Geisinger Medical Center in the Central Supply Department for several years, from where she retired.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Danville PA.

Sue loved taking care of children and will always be remembered for her infectious smile that brightened the lives of those around her. Sue had a special affinity for cats and enjoyed their company throughout her life. She also had a sweet tooth and could often be found indulging in hard candies and peppermint patties. A cancer survivor, she was a very strong woman, but the legacy of joy and kindness that she left behind, is what will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two sisters; Birdy Yocum of Danville PA and Martha Huntington of Bloomsburg PA and one brother Robert Yocum of Danville PA. Also surviving is one niece, Marisa Brophy, and two nephews: D.J. and Evan Brophy. She was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Sue’s life to be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with Linda Wagner, Celebrant, officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 – 10:45 AM. Burial will be private and held in the Hillside Cemetery in Catawissa PA.
