I remember Tom well, he was a fun uncle always willing to engage us "brats" in a water fight at his Dad's car lot on Center St. in Tharptown. His practical jokes were legend at the garage on Dewart St. in Coal Township. My deepest sympathy and condolences. Joe Mertz Jr.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Tom growing up and going to your house on Bloom St. For BBQ or just a visit. He always had a smile, and laughed freely. When I was older, I would see and talk to him at the convenience store where I worked. He made people feel good just talking to them and his famous smile. He will be missed by all. 😞 Karen Swisher.

They don't come any finer than Tom Mertz. I am sad to hear he will no longer be with us. The most sociable male student in the Coal Township High School Class of 1957. May his soul rest in peace with God in Heaven. Louise Ferrari Beck
