Tom was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan. Like many of us, he had a love hate relationship with our beloved Eagles. He raced lawn mowers, loved to bowl and shoot darts. Tom was an avid hunter, builder and family man with the most cherished title of Pop-Pop. Always the life of the party, the first one on the dance floor and quick with a smile.

Together, MJ and Tom raised a blended family of 4 children - Jason (Sue), Jessica (Matt), Tommy (Mindy) and Brad (Sarah). I was in my late teens and dad was approaching 50, when life found our family on the boardwalk in Wildwood, New Jersey. As usual, a calm afternoon stroll quickly turned into a competition between the two of us, where a race broke out. As I hit the finish line and looked back, I saw my pop picking himself up off the ground. He probably hadn't run 50 feet combined in the almost 3 decades prior and separating us. I was playing multiple sports at that time. That surely didn't stop him from taking me on. We met up and hugged it out, and now that I'm going to be 50 years just one day after his celebration takes place, I can understand well how the mind and body are quite separate. One wants to do things the other simply can't do. Dad's competitive blood runs through my veins. He was a very generous, high octane, prideful individual who helped to build me into who I am, for better or worse. I will love him dearly and miss him greatly for the remainder of my life. Rest in peace pop. Maybe we'll have round two in heaven one day.
