Obituary For Thomas R. Ciccarelli

Thomas R. Ciccarelli, 79, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Emmanuel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danville. He was born on June 22, 1944, in Easton, PA, a son of the late Anthony and Helen Harrington Ciccarelli.

Tom graduated from Bangor High School and later from East Stroudsburg College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. He also received a master’s degree in education from Lehigh University where he also received his Superintendent’s Letter.

He was married to his devoted wife of 56 years, Susanne Malone Ciccarelli. They were married on August 12, 1967.

During his first year out of college, he was employed as an elementary school teacher in Hope, New Jersey. He then taught at Washington Elementary School in Bangor, PA where he later became the principal. In 1976, Tom began his career as principal at Wind Gap Elementary School in Pen Argyl, PA. He served as principal for over 20 years. Tom ended his career as a third-grade teacher after serving one year as Superintendent in Pen Argyl, PA.

He was a former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Roseto, PA where he also served in the Knights of Columbus. Tom was a current member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Danville.

Throughout his life, Thomas found solace in nature, enjoying hunting deer and pheasants and showcasing his finesse as a skilled fly fisherman. His fabulous cooking skills were only outpaced by his generosity. However, his true joy came from cherishing moments with his family, creating countless lasting memories.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; Thomas L. Ciccarelli of Danville, and Steven Ciccarelli and his wife Shannon, of Fillmore, Utah as well as three grandchildren; Nicholas Ciccarelli of Lancaster, Luke Ciccarelli of Pittsburgh, and James Ciccarelli of Danville.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by one brother, Anthony Ciccarelli and one sister Cynthia Communale.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 68 Center Street, Danville, PA with Father Charles Ocul as celebrant. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM- 10:45 AM in St. Hubert’s Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Danville.

The family will provide flowers.
