Obituary For William D. "Murph" Murphy

William D. “Murph” Murphy, 70, of Milton, PA, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at his residence. He was born on June 15, 1954, in Sunbury, PA, the son of the late Catherine M. Murphy.

He graduated from Columbia-Montour Area Vocational Technical School, Bloomsburg, PA in 1974.

Bill was employed as a machinist at TRW.

He was an active member of the Continental Fire Company where he served as a former board member and was a member of the Danville Moose.

An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he found joy and freedom on the open road, embracing every adventure that came his way. Bill also relished moments spent playing cards with friends at the Continental Fire Company, where laughter and good conversation flowed freely. His tinkering with cars not only showcased his hands-on abilities but also served as a testament to his inquisitive mind and love for problem-solving.

He is survived by one daughter, Megan; one sister, Patricia St. Clair and her husband Larry of Riverside and one brother, Joe Murphy and his significant other Mindy Beardsley of New Columbia, PA. Bill is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his good friend, Tony Sauers who was always there for Bill.

In addition to his mother, Bill was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Oberdorf and one brother, Larry Murphy as well as his significant other, Deb.

Services will be held at a later date.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Continental Fire Company, 331 Meadow Lane, Danville, PA 17821.

    Pat, I am so sad to learn of Bill's passing. He was such a platonic comfort to me after the passing of my husband, Terry. I called Bill my "Grief Partner". He was a very good man.
